Forget-Me-Nots Card
Many years ago, I was at my friend's home in Calgary and her mom decided to engage us with an art activity instead of watching Lord of the Rings back to back as we had been. I remember the many strips of paper that my friend's mom had wonderfully cut out for us and fumbling with rolling up each strip, but then being able to roll nice tight circles at the end and making flower designs from them.
The technique had been sitting in the back of my mind for a while and I decided to search it up. I found out it is called paper quilling. I watched this video by Annigan Creates (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghCYwhLSBx4) which was so informative. I had a friend's mom whose birthday was coming up and I wanted to show my appreciation for the kindness and gentle love she had shown me these years by making a card for her.
I elected to try the "forget-me-nots" because they appeared doable for a beginner and I wanted auntie to 'forget me not' too. With my little unwound paperclip, I began the process of rolling (and sometimes re-rolling), the little petals of each flower. I secured each with a bit of Elmer's glue and pressure. I cut out little stems and made some additional green rolls for leaves and thus concluded my first paper quilling in a long while!
