Labubu Card
My friend's sister had an upcoming birthday and I wanted to show her some love for the lively spirit that she brought to a joint road trip we had undergone earlier in the year. I had heard that she likes Labubu dolls and decided to challenge myself by trying to create one on a card.
I used scissors buried deep in my crafts drawer with a shark tooth's edge to recreate the furry appearance of the doll. Choosing the Labubu colour was definitely a shot in the dark, but with the pretty pink outfits that my friend's sister had donned, I felt that pink was a safe choice. I used a Labubu doll photo as a reference while I was cutting different parts out (ears, face, hands and feet). I reused the same scissors to cut the teeth out, and then decided to use a thick black marker to give each aspect more dimension and pop.
I tied it all together with some heart cut outs from bronze shiny paper from Dollarama and accessorized the Labubu with a birthday cake (honestly, there was no room to write happy birthday on the front anymore). The Labubu looks a bit aggressive to me, and its skin is a tinge too yellow (I did not have a nice pastel or pale paper), but colour matching is definitely something I will pre-plan for the next card.
